If you look back, during the 1960's and 1970's when people, "talked health" it was little more than that as in reality the general public did not participate in or at the very least maintain those activities with any consistency.

In the 80's and 90's gym chains emerged. People bought memberships, but the frequency of use was intermittent and not even a bip on the radar in comparison to today's lifestyle of daily exercise and healthier diet.
